Questions anglers ask before stepping aboard

    Do I need a fishing license?

    No. Our USCG license covers every angler aboard under a blanket charter boat license. You do not need to buy anything or bring a permit.

    What is included in the price?

    Rods, reels, tackle, bait, ice and fuel are all included on every charter. We also clean, fillet and bag your catch back at the dock before you leave.

    Do we get to keep the fish we catch?

    Yes, within North Carolina size and bag limits, which the mate will explain before you leave the dock. Most groups take home a cooler of fillets, from mahi mahi to red drum depending on the trip.

    What should I bring?

    Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a light jacket for the morning run, and your own food and drinks if you want them. We supply everything related to the fishing itself.

    I get seasick. Should I skip the offshore trip?

    Take an over the counter motion sickness tablet the night before and morning of, and ask about our inshore or nearshore trips if you would rather stay in calmer water close to Oregon Inlet.

    Can kids come along?

    Yes. Family trips and inshore charters run at a relaxed pace with lighter tackle that is easy for kids to handle, and the mate stays hands on with younger anglers all trip.

    What happens if the weather turns?

    Captain Wade calls it by early morning on trip day. If we cancel for weather, you rebook free for any open date or get a full refund, no argument.

    How far ahead should I book?

    Gulf Stream trips in the summer fill up four to six weeks out. Inshore and family trips can often be booked within a week or two. Call (252) 555-0187 and we will tell you what is open.

    Where do we meet?

    1233 Irvin Garrish Hwy, Hatteras, NC 27943. Captain Wade will confirm your exact slip and departure time when you book.

    How many people can come?

    Up to 6 anglers on Reel Deal for offshore trips, 6 on Salt Runner for nearshore, and 4 on Drum Runner for inshore and family charters. Larger groups can book more than one boat for the same morning.
